Centering Prayer is a method of praying that prepares us to be silent in order to feel the movement of God in our hearts and souls. It is a time when we seek to let go of our concerns, our busyness, and our anxieties. Rather than using words for praying, we open ourselves to a silence of nothingness, as Father Thomas Keating might say.
To prepare for this contemplative silence, our group discusses thoughtful and wise readings from books for the first thirty to forty minutes. The books we choose are intended to help us to be centered in ourselves.
